M. E. Kemp (Marilyn Kemp Rothstein) was born and raised in Oxford Massachusetts where her ancestors settled in 1713. Her nonfiction includes textbooks on local and state governments and articles in many national and regional magazines. Always a history buff, she decided to combine history with mystery in her first novel, Murder, Mather and Mayhem, BookPick of the Week on Northeast Public Radio. Her short story, “Murder in the Marsh”, won first prize in the New England Writer’s Network mystery contest (2006). Other short stories and essays have won awards. Kemp lives in Upstate New York.
